Oh, the holy rolled oats – an absolute staple in many kitchens worldwide. But what if you have enough? Could something worthy replace it? What if maybe, just maybe, you have always overlooked it, dazzled by its more famous relative? Well, now it's its time to shine! Clear the stage for our organic rolled buckwheat! Get ready to fall in love with a super versatile oat alternative which will surely bring new energy to your breakfasts.

Recipes with buckwheat flakes

Before we get to how versatile and amazing our organic rolled buckwheat is, let us take care of that question mark on your forehead: what is buckwheat? Buckwheat is a pseudo-grain because it does not belong to the family of grasses or cereals, but can be used in almost any context in the same way. How? We'll explain that to you now. The best and perhaps most reassuring thing first: You can basically prepare our organic buckwheat flakes in the same way you did your beloved oat flakes. However, buckwheat takes it a step further! The taste is intense, wonderfully nutty, and will elevate your breakfast. We recommend you drizzle your buckwheat porridge with one of our legendary nut butters, or with freeze-dried fruits for that additional crunch. But a delicious porridge is not all our buckwheat can do! You can also bake with it; from juicy bread and cakes, to sweet waffles and pancakes, no goal is too ambitious for it. Our organic rolled buckwheat also have a lot to offer from a nutritional perspective: with 3.7g of it per 100g, they are a great source of fibre, and are also low in fat (1.73g/100g).

Get your rolled buckwheat in bulk!

Buckwheat

Buckwheat seeds have a greenish to beige coloration, and in shape they remind tiny pyramids. They are perfect to sprout, added to your porridge, and fit deliciously in a variety of recipes.

Buckwheat originally comes from Asia; arrived in Europe in the early Middle Ages, buckwheat has a short period of growth and thrives on lean soil, but is sensitive to cold. It has been a staple of Eastern European cuisine since ancient times, and Russia is the first documented country to have cultivated buckwheat. In 2017, 3.8 million tons of buckwheat were harvested worldwide. China is the largest producer of buckwheat, followed closely by Russia.

Buckwheat is not a cereal but a genus of plants from the "knotweed" family. The herbaceous plant has heart-shaped leaves, small whitish flowers and triangular fruits that are suitable for consumption and can be processed into flour or flakes.
For this purpose, hulled buckwheat is used, which is cleaned and soaked in advance. Then this is heated and flattened into flakes.

Contains indestructible lectins

I bought this product by mistake, thinking it was made from sprouted buckwheat. Even if it had been, buckwheat contains indestructible lectins, even when pressure-cooked, according to Dr Gundry, a leading specialist in lectins and gut health. This product, which I used to replace flour in a cake, boosted my health problems.

Good quality

Good quality and cheaper than in the shops. The large bag is sometimes annoying. But decanting into smaller containers is ok.
