Everyone knows it – pasta needs a cheesy topping. Well, now, thanks to our nutritional yeast flakes, vegan pasta can have what it was missing. Aromatic in taste, these flakes are packed with important nutrients, and in addition, they melt heavenly in your mouth. Can we wish for more?

Nutritional yeast as nutrients powerhouse

Our nutritional yeast flakes are made from molasses, from which results a real superfood: nutritional yeast is a great source of calcium and iron, and it contains a lot of magnesium and biotin. Aren't you convinced? We did not tell you everything yet. Yeast flakes are also a wonderful source of vitamin B1, B2, B3 and B6.

The vegan cheese upgrade

Nutritional yeast flakes cannot be used for baking, contrary to what their name might suggest, as they are deactivated. But they can be sprinkled over any dish to which you wish to add a delicious cheesy touch –  from pizza and lasagna to vegetables stir-frys. With our nutritional yeast you can make a wonderful vegan Mac and Cheese, or perfect a risotto.

They can make your baked potato chips extra crispy, or, if mixed with cashews, salt and garlic, substitute your parmesan cheese – this vegan parmesan does wonders in the oven too, making your casserole dishes just unforgettable.

Yeast flakes are also the perfect ally in the realisation of perfectly smooth, well-bound sauces, and creamy and flavoursome spreads or dips; for example, our nutritional yeast flakes can give an unexpected touch to your hummus.

Why are our yeast flakes so special

With the tiny packets available at your supermarket, you are not going to do much, especially as there are so many great recipes with nutritional yeast out there to try! This is why we have packed our flakes for you in large bags, so that you will always have some handy in the time of need. Our nutritional yeast flakes contain no filler medium, added salt, or colourants. What the bag does contain is 100 % nutritional yeast, to refine and improve your dishes! Packed in paper, our yeast flakes come from Germany.

Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.

CO₂ emissions by product

To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison

Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.

Comparison of CO₂ emissions per product in kg

Disclaimer: Different methods (comparison products) - The CO2 emissions of the non-KoRo products come from a different data source. Therefore, there may be differences between their evaluation method and the evaluation of KoRo products.

Questions & answers: Non-fortified nutritional yeast flakes 500g
No search results.
Yeast flakes are so special, they have several names. In supermarkets you can find yeast flakes also under the names nutritional yeast and noble yeast. In some English recipes you will probably have come across the name nutritional yeast. This means the same thing in each case: Yeast flakes, as you find them with us. However, you should not confuse yeast flakes with normal baker's yeast and dry yeast - these types of yeast are not intended for raw consumption. Yeast extract also refers to something else, namely a flavor enhancer. Likewise, brewer's yeast has nothing to do with yeast flakes. Brewer's yeast was bred especially for breweries and does not taste pleasantly spicy like our yeast flakes, but slightly bitter.
Nutritional yeast flakes are a real superfood. And that is the case for our nutritional yeast flakes made in Germany. Nutritional yeast flakes have a high nutrient density and are considered a source of calcium. They also have a high content of iron and magnesium. And last but not least, they contain high amounts of vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6 and biotin. However, since the B vitamins are sensitive to heat, you should not cook the nutritional yeast flakes, but stir or sprinkle them onto the finished dish if possible.
In the production of yeast flakes, the yeast cream is heated. In the process, the yeast fungi lose their natural leavening power, which otherwise makes dough for pizza, yeast plaits and bread grow almost magically. This is because the now inactive yeast can no longer form carbon dioxide and alcohol.

Disappointed... Powder, not glitter

Not at all as described... Packaging already transparent and it's powder.

Indispensable for a healthy life without animal products!

Indispensable for vegetarians/vegans and for anyone who wants to live healthily. These flakes are simply great. They are really versatile: In salads, over pasta and rice to spice everything up.

And a tip for animal lovers: sprinkling them on cats' and dogs' food makes any wet food irresistible and is also healthy :-)

nutty-spicy flavor addition and are ideal for vegan dishes, with high nutritional value and versatile uses.

Koro's yeast flakes in the 500 g pack are a great product for anyone who wants to add a nutty, spicy note to their dishes. They are ideal as a plant-based cheese substitute and are particularly popular in vegan cuisine. With their natural umami flavour, they can be used in a variety of ways, whether as a topping for salads, pasta, soups or in sauces to give them more depth. The consistency of the yeast flakes is light and crumbly, which makes them very easy to handle. Particularly noteworthy is the high content of B vitamins, which are important for a balanced diet. The flakes also contain proteins and minerals, making them a valuable supplement. All in all, Koro's yeast flakes offer a great way to spice up dishes in a natural way while benefiting from the health benefits. Perfect for anyone looking for a tasty and nutritious addition!
