What is the difference between golden flax seeds and brown flax seeds?
Golden flax seeds – what are they? As we all know, our customers are Kings and Queens. And what can't be missing from a royal treasure? Quite clearly: gold! That's why our golden flax seeds are just the thing for you! Linseed is also called flaxseed and comes from one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world. First and foremost, both types of seeds differ in appearance: Golden flax seeds are a cultivated form of linseed. They are golden yellow, whereas conventional linseeds are usually light brown. But the taste is not the same either, because golden linseeds are milder and can therefore be combined in even more versatile ways than brown linseeds. A third, significant difference lies in the swelling capacity. Basically, flax seeds - just like psyllium husks - are very swellable. However, golden linseed has an even higher swelling capacity than brown linseed, which is why you should drink a lot of liquid when consuming it. Our golden flax seeds are a great source of protein and also score high in fibre.
Preparing golden linseed
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Our golden linseed is the perfect topping for your breakfast muesli or your porridge. Due to its great swelling capability, you should consume the seeds with sufficient liquid. We recommend soaking 5 - 10 grams of golden linseed in 150 ml of water for 15 to 20 minutes. They are now ready to use for your recipes. But you can also use them without soaking: how about adding them to a fluffy, freshly baked baguette? Our golden linseed is a plant-based source of protein. If you want to use it for baking, we recommend our partly de-oiled organic golden linseed flour. But it's not just our golden linseed that is worth its weight in gold: our brown organic flaxseed and our organic seed mix also deserve a gold medal. There is a reason why flax seeds are very popular and ideally suited for daily consumption.
