Buy now: Pistachio butter 500g
Tiny, green, salty, and simply delicious: pistachio nuts are among the most popular snacks of all times, and rightly so! Everybody loves pistachios, and this is why we have selected the best nuts, peeled and roasted them for you, and then turned them into the most incredible cream you will ever encounter. Among our nut butters, this raw pistachio butter stands out with its golden-green colour – a real highlight which you should never again do without!
Pistachio butter – behind the scenes
Now you might ask yourself: What is pistachio butter? As the name suggests pistachio butter is a cream made out of blended pistachios. Pistachios are the fruits of the pistachio tree, which belongs to the sumac family and is a real giant who can grow up to 12 meters, and whose life span can reach 300 years! As one of the oldest flowering cultivated plants, pistachios originally come from the Middle East; today, they are grown mainly in Arab and Oriental countries as well as the USA. Oh, and one more thing: the pistachio isn't actually a nut at all but a stone fruit. Stone fruits are so-called closing fruits, which surrounds their kernel with another wooden kernel.
Allrounder in the kitchen
Where can I put my pistachio butter and what is it good for? Valid question! Whether savoury or sweet: It's your decision! Pistachio ice cream is very easy to make yourself with our pistachio butter. Simply blend your favourite milk with a little pistachio butter and then add the rest of the ingredients - and don't forget: You are the magician in the kitchen. Whether you make a vegan ice cream or a milk ice cream is entirely up to you! In general, many dishes can be modified and refined with pistachio milk. How about a pistachio cream tiramisu or a pistachio cake? You can find a suitable recipe for the tiramisu in our blog - instead of almond milk, simply use pistachio milk. And if you want to bake a cake or cookies, you can either add as many spoonfuls of pistachio butter as you like or, for example, change the liquid again. Climate impact
At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.
CO₂ emissions by product
To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison
Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.

Disclaimer: Different methods (comparison products) - The CO2 emissions of the non-KoRo products come from a different data source. Therefore, there may be differences between their evaluation method and the evaluation of KoRo products.
Varieties & origins
Jumbo - with shell
Jumbo pistachios have a particularly round and plump shape and must be 18/20 to 24/26 in size, which means that 18 to 20 pistachios with shell, or 24 to 26 without, weigh one ounce (28.3 g). The less pistachios make up an ounce, the larger they are.
In 2017, 1.1 million tons of pistachios were harvested worldwide and over 50% (574,987) of global production came from Iran. In 2017, the United States produced about a quarter (272,291) of the worldwide harvest, and ranks second among the largest producers of pistachios. China, Turkey, Syria, Greece and Spain follow.
Production
In our shop you get only the tastiest products. That's why we have tested extensively before - and found the best pistachio puree for you. Unfortunately, there were also a few losers.
The pistachios for our creamy puree come from Iran. There they dream for a full 2 years on their tree before being allowed to become our KoRo pistachio puree. Since we are nice, we fulfill their wish.
Not so our pistachios - they are freed from their shells instead. This happens in a factory in Italy. There, they tumble along this conveyor belt and do what pistachios are good at: Look delicious.
It could also pass for a nut - but the pistachio is a drupe. Just like an almond, the delicious fruit is therefore still wrapped in a skin. Although it is also edible, it would interfere with our puree - which is why the pistachio skin is shaken off in this machine.
It makes you want to stick your head in - but we restrain ourselves and fill the delicious pistachio puree into our 500 g jars instead.
We also had to look twice: Our pistachio puree really only consists of peeled and roasted pistachios. But because we have contained ourselves, there is still enough for your next order.
