Looking for a delicious alternative to rice? Then millet is just right for you! It has been established that there are over 12 different millet varieties. Millet belongs to the family of sweet grasses, hence it is naturally gluten-free*. * May contain traces of gluten. They are conditioned due to processing and are only important for allergy suffers.

It is tiny in size, round in shape and can be white, grey, yellow or red. Millet has a very high nutritional content and is therefore three to five times nutritionally superior to rice and wheat in terms of proteins, minerals and vitamins. It perfectly suits dishes with meat, fish, vegetables or a sweet bake with sugar and cinnamon.

No matter if sweet, savoury, hearty, for breakfast, lunch, dinner or for baking — millet is an absolute allrounder and should be in every kitchen. After processing, it has a mild, lightly nutty flavour. This spectacular grain originated in Asia, where it was already cultivated over 8000 years ago. Millet was a staple for a long time before the potato replaced it — unfairly, if you ask us! That's why we offer 2 kg value packs of millet just for you!

Preparing millet

Millet is super easy to prepare and extremely versatile. Before cooking it, you should rinse it under cold water, preferably in a fine sieve. After rinsing, the millet is ready to cook. A thumb rule is using millet in a 1:2 ratio with water. Usually water or broth is used, but you can also use plant drink depending on the recipe. Compared to other types of cereal, the cooking time is relatively short, about 5 minutes. Finally, you should allow the millet to swell for about half an hour. Now you can do whatever you want with it! It works with sweet and savoury dishes. Use it as a base for a nutritious bowl or add it to a stew. How about a millet curry or risotto? You can also use it as an ingredient in bread and it is a great alternative to rice, quinoa or couscous. If you like it sweet, millet is also great for you: make a delicious millet porridge for breakfast, or add it to your muffins, cakes and desserts!

The small, yellowish millet grains have an underestimated talent. They are not only quick to prepare, but can also be transformed into countless dishes. You can prepare the grain savoury or sweet and enjoy it as a main dish, side dish or dessert. Millet is also an excellent ingredient for baking. In addition, 100 g of millet provide you with 11 g of protein and almost 4 g of fibre. In short, our millet is organically grown, a tasty all-rounder and also a source of protein and fibre. More than convincing, in our opinion. Buy millet in the convenient 2 kg value pack now and create all types of dishes.

Store your millet in a cool, dry place to maximize shelf life. In the original sealed package, the product will keep for at least 12 months from the date of production.
The preparation is super easy: First wash the millet under cold water and then boil it with water, broth or milk (alternatives) in a ratio of 1:2. The cooking time is about five minutes. After that, let the grain swell for about half an hour and then you can turn it into curries, stir-fries, vegetable stir-fries, risottos or millet thalers. Millet is also a real treat when eaten sweet, for example in the form of millet porridge, oatmeal or in muesli.

Looks good quality, but we haven't cooked & eaten it yet. Less packaging would be great
